Xiaomi Anti-Pollution Air Mask With PM2.5 Rechargeable Air Filter Launched.

Xiaomi Anti-Pollution Air Mask With PM2.5 Rechargeable Air Filter Launched.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The mask is only available on Mi crowdfunding page
  • It weighs about 50.5 grams
  • The air filter is able to achieve 99 percent filtration efficiency
After launching the Mi Air Purifier Proearlier this month, Xiaomi has now launched an anti-pollution mask with built-in air-filter. Calling it the Cloth Pear Fresh Air Mask, this is the company's latest crowdfunding effort, and is being sold on the Mi crowdfunding page for CNY 89 (roughly Rs. 900).
The mask is made of high-fibre textile, and is hand woven to offer a three-dimensional structure. GizmoChinareports that the anti-pollution mask is light and portable, weighing about 50.5 grams. It is offered in a Grey colour option, with a delicate air filter attached to one side.
The air filter can be detached from the mask, and the housing inside is made of high-quality polyester fabric. To make it lightweight, there's a home-grown ultra-thin fan and a removable cartridge for ease in future replacement. The fan has three speed level controls, and a power on/off button to save battery.
The air filter is rechargeable, and comes with polymer lithium-ion battery that takes about 3-4 hours to fully charge. The filter is apparently able to achieve PM2.5 filtration efficiency of up to 99 percent. This is a first for Xiaomi, as the company has only indulged in making air purifiers before this. The company alongside the Mi Air Purifier Pro also launched the Mi PM2.5 Detector.
As for now, this is only available via the crowdfunding site in China, but we sincerely hope that it arrives in India. The alarming post-Diwali pollution levels in North India will have many customers flocking in to buy this Cloth Pear Fresh Air Mask fromXiaomi.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Tipped to Sport a Bezel-Less OLED Display.

Sumsung galaxy s8 tipped to sport a Bezel-less Oled display.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 to come with 90 percent screen-to-body ratio
  • It is said to feature a 5.5-inch 4K display
  • The Galaxy S8 is also rumoured to come with 16-megapixel camera
In a bid to douse the fire that theGalaxy Note 7 caused, Samsung is looking to calm the situation by making its upcoming Galaxy S8 count. The 'S' series flagship largely expected to be unveiled in February will have some significant upgrades to lift the mood of its loyalists. The latest leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport an OLED display and will come with little to no bezel.
The Investor reports that the upcoming flagship will sport a full edge-to-edge OLED display with 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. This means that most of the front will mostly be consumed by the OLED display, and just 10 percent of it will sport metal body.
"Samsung Display would roll out a full-screen display whose display area ratio (a scale that measures space taken up by a display on the front part of a handset) reaches more than 90 percent next year," the report states.
The shift to OLED panels is beingconsidered by Apple on the iPhone 8 as well. At the IMD Display exhibitionin Seoul, Samsung mobile engineer Park Won-sang also hinted that the company is concentrating its efforts on innovating with the display, and is investing considerable resources for this purpose.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 display also expected to sport dual-curved edges, and an optical fingerprint sensorwhich will enable the display to read prints - thus eliminating the home button, and falling in line with the most recent report about 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. The smartphoneis tipped to feature a 5.5-inch 4K (2160x3840 pixels) display with pixel density of 806ppi. It is expected to be powered by the home-grown Exynos 8895 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. The Galaxy S8 is also rumoured to come with 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel dual-rear camera setup. It is expected to sport a slick design, an improved camera, and an "enhanced artificial-intelligence service".

Xiaomi launches redmi note 4.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 review: Another budget winner.

I used the Chinese retail variant of the Redmi Note 4 that ran MIUI 7.3 out of the box, but there was an update for MIUI 8 available immediately. For most of the time, I used it with an Airtel 4G SIM in Delhi NCR.
I used the 2GB/16GB variant which had about 9.5GB of internal storage available out of the box. There's also a higher-end variant with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Redmi Note 4 Design

The Redmi Note 4 carries on Xiaomi's design ethos. Apart from rare aberration, most devices in the Xiaomi portfolio look alike, and the Note 4 looks just like the Redmi Pro. That's not a bad thing, really. Xiaomi makes good looking budget smartphones and the Note 4 is no different. There's nothing special, but the industrial design works for most.
However, while the metallic chassis on the Redmi Pro sports a smooth back, there is a hint of cheapness on the Note 4 with rugged surface which gives a feeling of it being less "solid" than the former. Of course, you get what you pay for. The curves on the edges at the back aid the grip, and makes it a nice phone to hold in the hand.
A successor to Redmi Note 3, there are only a few subtle changes on the Note 4. While both phones boast of a full metal unibody design, the Note 4 sports 2.5D curved glass on the front that exaggerates its style. There are changes here and there but unless you look closely, it's hard to differentiate between the two.
At 175 grams, the Note 4 is not light, although it doesn't get too overbearing in the hand. However, since it packs a massive 4100mAh battery, most users who are picking the Note 4 for long battery life would want to overlook this.

xiaomi announces Mi Mix with borderless display.

Xiaomi announces Mi MIX with borderless display.

Alongside the Mi Note 2, Xiaomi also unveiled the Mi MIX, a so-called concept phone with a borderless display that will actually be on sale.

The Mi MIX has a custom-made 6.4-inch, 2040x1080 pixel, 17:9 aspect ratio display that takes up 91.3% of the front. The display has really thin bezels on the top and sides, making it look nearly borderless. There is only one significant bezel, and that is at the bottom, where you will also find the front speaker and camera. The Mi MIX does not have physical buttons at the bottom and is the first Xiaomi phone with on-screen controls. The 17:9 aspect ratio means even with the on-screen buttons you still get full 16:9 area for your content.

The earpiece and proximity sensor are completely hidden and had to be reimagined. The Mi MIX uses a piezoelectric ceramic driver for the earpiece and an ultrasonic proximity sensor, which works through the display.

The body of the Mi MIX is made entirely out of ceramic, with ceramic back, ceramic frame, and ceramic buttons. The design uses a mortise and tenon joint for attaching the display to the body, instead of glue or other adhesives. The industrial design has been done by designer Philippe Starck.
Inside, the Mi MIX runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821. The 128GB model gets 4GB of RAM while the 256GB model gets 6GB of RAM. The 256GB model also gets gold trim, with 18K gold accents on the camera lens and fingerprint sensor on the back. The back camera has 16 megapixel resolution with PDAF and 4K video, and the front camera is 5 megapixels. The phone also has dual SIM connectivity. The whole thing is powered by a 4,400mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

The Mi MIX is priced at RMB 3,499 ($515) for the 4GB/128GB model and RMB 3,999 ($590) for the 6GB/256GB model. Both variants come with a leather case.
